KURMANGAZY ORCHESTRA ON TOUR
Original Kazakh music continues to captivate connoisseurs of art abroad. Kuramngazy orchestra is on tour around the world. The legendary Kazakh orchestra has already performed on prestigious stages in the USA, Germany, Austria, China and Bulgaria. It was their first tour to Bulgaria. Therefore the audience was looking forward to the famous musicians’ performance. Created in 1934, the orchestra pleased the audience with the music which was born in great steppe. Large cities’ residents enjoyed the performance of eminent Kazakh celebrities such as honored artists of Kazakhstan Maira Mukhamedkyzy and Zhenis Iskakova.
More than 20 compositions have been performed. They are Kazakh national songs, kuiys and, of course, world’s classical music. Performing Strauss, Bizet and Vivaldi with Kazakh national musical instrument has won the hearts of the audience. Unique sounds of dombra and kyl-kobyz will be remembered by Sofia residents for long time.
SIMEON SAXECOBURGGOTSKI, FORMER BULGARIAN PRIME MINISTER
- I was greatly impressed by the variety of instruments and Kazakh music, especially, by dombra! This instrument has only two strings. It was an unforgettable concert!!!
The concert featured the performance of ‘Bulgarian Rose’ in Bulgarian language by Zhenis Iskakova. It was a surprise for spectators.
ZHENIS ISKAKOVA, HONORED ARTIST OF KAZAKHSTAN
- Everyone knows the national song ‘Bulgarian rose’ here. It is like ‘Atameken’ for Kazakhs. It wasn’t difficult to perform. The audience was pleased and I felt the vibe.
Kazakhstan and Bulgaria are reliable friends and strategic partners. This year, the countries celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. A bright and grandiose concert, which presented a rich cultural heritage of Kazakhstan in Sofia, was devoted to this event.
RADI NAIDENOV, BULGARIAN FOREIGN MINISTER
