INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL «ORLEU»
The world’s most talented dancers performed in Almaty. The fourth international ballet schools festival was held at Seleznev Almaty Choreographic School with support of the Foundation of the First President of Kazakhstan. 120 young dancers took part at the festival. They demonstrated elegance of pirouettes, plasticity and a variety of techniques. The future ballet dancers were able not only to perform but also to attend master classes conducted by the leading foreign choreographers. Organizers say that the main purpose of the festival is the promotion of choreographic art in Kazakhstan.
OLIYA VILDANOVA, DIRECTOR, BASHKIR CHOREOGRAPHIC COLLEGE
- We compare each other’s practical and theoretical skills. Children look at their peers, at their future colleagues, and it gives great impetus to sharpen dancing skills and enriches them. I wish every future ballet dancer to have such good teachers as your students do.
VAKIL USMANOV, CHOREOGRAPHER, STAGE DIRECTOR, AUSTRIA
- I was amazed when I saw the performance at the festival, the results of the enormous work students have accomplished at the choreographic school. I would say that this choreographic school is one of the most successful in Kazakhstan.
This year, the festival is devoted to the 80th birth anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh ballet master, People’s artist of the KazSSR, Zaurbek Raibayev. He has made a huge contribution to the formation of ballet art in Kazakhstan; he has trained artists who became really well-known. Festival participants performed his ballet «Asa-tayak» to music by Tlendiyev, «Sholpy» and the dance «Kazakh ornekteri».
ANASTASIYA GOLTSEVA, STUDENT, SELEZNEV ALMATY CHOREOGRAPHIC SCHOOL
- I think the festival gives a chance to learn and see something new because the ballet master put his heart into this choreography. I am taking part in one-act ballet by Sadykova Anvara Aripovna «Turan dala – Kyran dala». It is about Kazakh people’s history.
A large-scale gala concert closed this year’s «Orleu» Festival. Participants won the hearts of famous ballet dancers, teachers and the audience. Ballet art lovers applauded loudly to the young but incredibly talented artists.
