Kazakhstan marks 25th anniversary of Independence

Kazakhstan prepares to mark the 25th anniversary of independence. Events dedicated to the independence anniversary are held across Kazakhstan. Astana Opera hosted the concert with the participation of People’s Artist of Kazakhstan Zhaniya Aubakirova and symphony orchestra of the theater led by the conductor Dorian Wilson. The concert began with the popular suite “Steppe Legend” by Tles Kazhgaliev. It is considered to be the hallmark of Kazakhstani symphonic music. The concert also featured the works by Rakhmaninov, Prokofiyev and Tchaikovsky.

 

ZHANIYA AUBAKIROVA, PEOPLE’S ARTIST OF KAZAKHSTAN:

I perform here for the second time. It is a great pleasure. There are my students, and the students of Aiman Mussakhajayeva in the orchestra. This is a high class orchestra. I’m very inspired.

 

Another festive event was held in Kyzylorda. The international contest of aitys performers came to an end. Skillful improvisers from China, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan showed mastery in the art of eloquence, improvisatory talent and richness of Kazakh verbal creativity. Following the results, Kazakh aitys performer Mukhtar Niyazov was awarded the Grand Prix.

 

YERLAN DAULETULY, AITYS PERFORMER FROM MONGOLIA:

All participants performed well. I came from Mongolia from Bayan-Ulgii region. I am very happy to visit the motherland of the great Korkyt and Nartai.

 

An unusual campaign was organized in the South Kazakhstan region. 25 judges decided to conquer one of the highest mountain peaks in the region. Themis representatives had to climb up to a height of almost 2,000 meters above sea level, to the peak of Kazygurt. Many tourists try to conquer this peak every year, but it's harder to do in winter. Rescuers and professional climbers ensured safety of the participants. Judges have successfully reached the top and hoisted the flag of Kazakhstan.
