Creative team ‘women art design’ opens exhibition
Back to roots: the interest to ancestors’ traditions and culture is growing. Native Kazakh needlework traditions are reviving. Thus, the team ‘Women art design’ occupies a particular place among modern Kazakh artists able to revive the forgotten areas of Kazakh art.
NATALYA BRIKS, MEMBER, KAZAKH DESIGNERS’ UNION
All our compositions are based on the deep perception of our national applied and decorative arts. By nurturing our art and resting on it, we connected this national heritage with the modern aesthetics and tried to convey how beautiful it is and how diverse the materials we use are, and they are traditional materials.
Women Art Design project has been running for 16 years and it includes the members of Kazakhstan Designers’ Union from Uralsk. These artists have miraculously embodied the idea of co-creation to design exclusive projects. The theme of the works closely intertwines with the name of the team and carries the image of a Kazakh woman. For instance, mother’s image can be seen in this tapestry. According to authors, it symbolizes warmth, comfort, desire for hearth and home.
RAISSA ALEKSEYEVA, MEMBER, KAZAKH DESIGNERS UNION
In general, the work of Women Art Design gives new direction of a hearth and new interior. We decided to show this warmth of our traditional Kazakh materials in our pictures.
Presented paintings and tapestries imply comprehension and a stylized display of fragments of Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage. In particular, these are the works made from leather and felt, combining national traditions and master’s craftsmanship.
YELENA CHERNOVA, STAFF, ASTANA NATIONAL ART GALLERY
Unconventional and very impressive, Kazakhstan is expressed in all symbolic elements: the leopard and the winged horse, and of course the Kazakh ornament, Kazakh lifestyle itself turns into some sort of unique, original, art epic. I want to say that the exhibition is outstanding.
Women Art Design has proved not only its right for further long-term development but also its high creative potential. This talented team has participated in national and international exhibitions, winning recognition, prizes and awards. In addition, the team’s paintings and decorative panels are kept in public and private collections in more than 30 countries around the world.
