Art of improvisation included in UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list

Aitys was included the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. This decision was taken at a current meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in Namibia. Aitys had been listed from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as a unique art of improvisation. Besides it, the list of intangible cultural heritage includes: the tradition of preparing of Korean dish kimchi, three genres of traditional dances from Bali, the New Year celebration in Ethiopian Sidamo peoples and another 20 new elements out of the proposed 35 initiatives from around the world.
