‘The Sixth Post’ premieres In Astana
Astana hosted a closed premiere of a new Kazakh feature film titled ‘The Sixth Post’. The movie is based on a real story that shocked the whole country eight years ago. In June 2010, nearly 20 dangerous criminals fled from a prison in Aktau. A young officer of the National Guard, Yerbol Otarbayev, managed to stop the mass escape of the armed prisoners. Despite the gunshot wound, the soldier fought with the fugitives alone. The film is a tribute to his courage and commitment to duty. Here is how the main hero of the story recalls the day.
YERBOL OTARBAYEV, OFFICER, NATIONAL GUARD:
- I will never forget that day. I was on duty. It was so unexpected. I was a regular soldier. I served in the Army. I was only 19 years old. It was important to pull myself together in that situation. I managed to do what I did because the officers had prepared me well.
The story of the brave soldier had inspired the creators of the film. The country should know its hero, the authors of the film believe.
DANIYAR IBRAGIMOV, FILM DIRECTOR:
The filming lasted for two months. We started preparations in March last year. The film is still in production since we have to improve it before mass release. Roughly speaking, the film took around 9 months. We should make more movies in this genre, since they are so many important untold stories like this one. People should know about these silent heroes.
Kazakh actor Sanurzhan Suleimenov played the main character. The young actor has played in pictures like "The Racketeer 2", "The Districts" and "The Wings that a Mother Gives".
SANURZHAN SULEIMENOV, MAIN CHARACTER:
I felt a great responsibility playing the character. It was a big challenge. Whether I did a good job or not, I don’t; know. Erbol Otarbayev will be able to tell. Our team had worked on this film for two months.
The film was created by an order of the Kazakh Ministry of Information and Communication in partnership with the Khabar Agency. Officially, the film will hit the big screen next year.
