Results of the year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan

The year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan is coming to an end. It has been unusually fruitful and important for improving relationship between two countries. The trade turnover between two countries has grown, political and business ties between the two republics have improved, the cultural and humanitarian cooperation has reached a new level. More than 200 events dedicated to the year of Uzbekistan have been organized in Kazakhstan. They covered all areas of bilateral relations and allowed the two nations to learn more about each other.

SAIDIKRAM NIYAZKHODJAYEV, UZBEK AMBASSADOR TO KAZAKHSTAN:

- Days of Uzbek cinema took place in Shymkent and Turkestan. Today the days of the Uzbek cinema are taking place in Kyzylorda and films are shown. I want to highlight that as part of the Uzbek Film Days, we are showing a documentary film about the great Kazakh scientist, poet and statesman, Abai Kunanbaiuly. His museum was opened in Tashkent in August.

Exhibitions, fashion shows and concerts have promoted the Uzbek culture among the Kazakhs. The final note of the fruitful year of cooperation between the two republics was a concert by Uzbek performers.

SAIDIKRAM NIYAZKHODJAYEV, UZBEK AMBASSADOR TO KAZAKHSTAN:

- We want to introduce the people of Kazakhstan to our culture. There was a period of time when each state developed separately. Within a year and a half our relations have reached a new level of strategic cooperation and opened a new page in history of our two states.

2018 was successful for business relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. During the business council meeting in May in Shymkent, the parties signed 60 agreements worth over US$1 billion.
