Mazhilis approves amendments to legal acts regulating industrial safety
A plenary session of the Mazhilis, the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, discussed today, May 27, that the emergency rescue services at Kazakh manufacturing facilities haven’t undergone certification for already three years. Mazhilis Chairperson Nurlan Nigmatulin said that the new legislative amendments on industrial safety will strengthen state supervision at the social facilities and enhance safety of workers at the production sites.

“It turns out that non-certified emergency rescue services are currently working at hazardous production facilities, including all the enterprises of the mining and metallurgical complex, oil and gas complex, as well as enterprises of other sectors of the economy. This is unacceptable. The certification of professional emergency services in the field of industrial safety must be restored,” Nigmatulin said.

The new bill also aims to increase the protection level of workers from the harmful effects in hazardous production processes, as well as reduce injuries. In case of an accident, the scale of the damage will be lower. At today’s plenary session of the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, the members of the Mazhilis approved the corresponding bill in the first reading. According to the 2019 statistics, one in four workers in Kazakhstan was working at the hazardous production facility. The members of Mazhilis said that the adoption of such bill will save many lives of ordinary workers.
