Kostanai Car Manufacturer Expanding Export Markets
Kazakhstan’s largest car manufacturing factory in Kostanai is planning to increase its production volume to 60,000 cars by 2023 and up to 100,000 cars annually after the next four years.
Deputy Director of the Kostanai Car Manufacturing Factory, Sergey Mogilatov said one of the prioritized development areas for the plant is the expansion of its overseas export markets.
“The export geography will expand. But we believe that Russia is and will remain as our main export destination. In terms of location, Russian cities such as Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg are located 170 kilometers away from the Kazakh and Russian border.”
“The population of the Ural region is similar to Kazakhstan’s entire population,” he said.
Last year, the factory exported cars worth over US$2.6 million to Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
The plant is also considering to export its cars to Azerbaijan, which could potentially be its new overseas market.
The car manufacturer has recently received investments from a transnational Chinese company which help increase its production volumes and rate of production. The amount of investments in the initial stage totals more than US$1 billion.
The Kostanai car manufacturing factory plans to produce over 20,000 cars this year. The factory also plans to start the production of a French model of complete known-down cars. The French cars will be exported to CIS countries.
