Poland Interested to Invest in Several Sectors in Kazakhstan

40 large Polish companies have shown interest to invest in Kazakhstan following the presentation made by Kazakh delegation on Kazakhstan’s investment potential in Warsaw.

The presentation includes business opportunities in Kazakhstan, Government support measures as well as the priority cooperation sectors.

The Polish companies are interested in the engineering, agriculture and production of building materials sectors in Kazakhstan.

Deputy Chair of National Investment Company, Birzhan Kaneshev said there is an opportunity for Kazakhstan and Poland to establish joint enterprises and joint investments.

“I think we will plan to reach at least five to six mutual agreements. We would sign the agreements during the International Investment Forum in Astana, which will be chaired by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan,” he said, adding that the event will be held on May 15th.

Poland has expressed interest in doing business in Kazakhstan due to the latter’s simplified visa entries and tax remissions for foreign businesses.

Polish businessman, Jacek Szwajcowski said the two countries could work together in the agriculture, chemical and pharmaceuticals industries.

Meanwhile, Kazakh entrepreneur Alimzhan Akhmetov is looking for a business partner to expand his commercial dairy farm business in Turkestan region.

“We want to build a milk processing plant and increase the production of our milk to 60 tonnes per day from 20 tonnes. Currently, we have 1,200 cattle imported from Canada and Europe,” he said.

The Kazakh delegation also presented about the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) to the potential Polish investors.

Kazakh Ambassador to Poland, Margulan Baimukhan said the Polish attendees were invited to the upcoming Astana Economic Forum and they have provided specific proposals for their participation in the investment forum.

“Our main goal is to attract investments to Kazakhstan and support Kazakhstan’s exports. The Polish companies are interested in importing flax seed from Kazakhstan,” he said.
