One Trillion Tenge for Industrialization Map Projects in Kazakhstan

More than one trillion Tenge were allocated to projects in various industries in Kazakhstan last year. The industries include chemical, engineering, food as well as building materials production. In order to support the projects, over 100 enterprises were opened with facilities and factories built in almost every region in the country.

SERIK ASSYLBEK, EXPERT, KAZAKH MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY AND INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT:

- If we look at the Industrialization Map’s projects, more than 500 new products have been produced in Kazakhstan over the past year. These products were not in demand previously. The export values are increasing and over 50 new products are planned to be exported to foreign countries.

One of the ore manufacturing plants in Kazakhstan is producing almost two million tonnes of gold every year. The plant targets to increase its gold output to 85 tonnes per year in line with the objective of the Industrialization Map program.

The Industrialization Map program was launched by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev as part of the country’s plan to diversify its economy to non-oil and gas industries. Under the program, the Government is focusing on developing the metallurgy and mechanical engineering, infrastructure as well as the transport and logistics industries.

YURI OVCHINNIKOV, DIRECTOR GENERAL, MINING ENTERPRISE:

- A modern mining and processing complex was built from scratch with the use of modern equipment and technologies. The facility will produce an average of 10 tonnes of gold concentrate every year.

Meanwhile, a railway products manufacturing facility will export two-third of its total output to foreign countries. The facility produces spare parts for a train-car repair complexes located in Kazakhstan. It was opened last year under the Industrialization Map program.

The machine-building industry has become one of the fastest growing sectors of the Kazakh economy due to the Industrialization Map program. In August last year, Minister of Investment and Development Zhenis Kassymbek said the Government will be focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry by developing and increasing the country’s export activities. He added that particular attention will be paid on technology transfer and promotion of digitalization of the industry.

- As of January 1st, about 283 projects should be implemented in Kazakhstan. Their total cost will be about six trillion Tenge. About 30,000 jobs will also be created.

Since 2010, 1,250 enterprises worth almost eight trillion Tenge US$21 billion were opened in Kazakhstan. The enterprises’ outputs were exported to 110 countries.
