Kazakhstan and Singapore are enhancing cooperation

Kazakhstan and Singapore are enhancing cooperation. Bilateral trade between the countries totaled over US$ 400 million in the first nine months of this year, which is 5.5 times higher than last year. Kazakhstan increased the volume of exported goods to Singapore eightfold. The countries cooperate successfully in education and culture as well. The parties attach great importance to international political cooperation.

USEN SULEIMEN, KAZAKH AMBASSADOR TO SINGAPORE AND NEW ZEALAND:

- We support each other’s initiatives in the international arena. This year, Singapore supported Kazakhstan in promoting the Code of Conduct towards Achieving a World Free of Terrorism. Earlier, Kazakhstan was supported by Singapore when joining the Asia-Europe Meeting and the WTO and Kazakhstan’s application for holding the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference in Astana in 2020.

According to the diplomat, Kazakhstan and Singapore have a large potential for partnership, (which has not been fully implemented). The countries have a number of promising industries for cooperation. A number of major agreements were signed in November this year during the Kazakh Prime Minister’s working visit to Singapore. As a result, the parties are developing a partnership roadmap, which (after its consideration) will open new opportunities for cooperation.
