Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in transport and logistics is reaching a new level. With the opening of the new highway and the Nur Zholy checkpoint, transportation time from Khorgos to Almaty takes nearly four hours. A modernization of the Khorgos checkpoint has significantly increased the volume of traffic. Trains deliver goods from China to Europe through Kazakhstan’s territory in just 15 days. According to the customs service, more than 3,700 trains are functioning. This figure is higher for 65% comparing to the previous year. The volume of exports and imports between Kazakhstan and China amounted to 386,000 tonnes. Kazakhstan exports natural gas, wool products, soybeans, bran, wheat and red beans to China. Kazakhstan imports electronics, textiles, fruits and vegetables from China. Experts say that the development of cross-border partnership is one of the key projects of Kazakh-Chinese relations.
