‘Almaty-Bishkek’ economic corridor
Two major Central Asian cities - Almaty and Bishkek will strengthen their partnership, particularly, in the context of "The economic corridor Almaty-Bishkek" project. The project received funding from the Asian Development Bank, which amounts to US$1.75 million. The project includes the development of modern wholesale markets, agriculture, tourism and road infrastructure between Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyzstan.
BIBIGUL MASERBAYEVA, SPOKESPERSON, KAZAKH MINISTRY OF NATIONAL ECONOMY:
- The projects will be implemented to promote trade between the two countries. Also, there will be promotion of labor, service, and capital. The ultimate goal of this project is to establish a regional product which can be exported outside the two regions.

- In addition we see high potential for trade, horticulture. In that respect we have started work on preparing master plans, whole sale markets on both sides in Almaty and Bishkek.
