Kazakhstan intends to develop business tourism
Kazakhstan intends to develop business tourism, which is one of the most promising areas today. Astana was introduced to leading Russian tourist and event agencies as a major venue for international events at a roadshow in Moscow. Representatives of Kazakh Tourism highlighted that the Kazakh capital has everything to host the high-level forums including 25,000 square meters of exhibition space, 3,000 hotel rooms, congress centers and sports complexes.
AKBOTA KALIYEVA, SPOKESPERSON, KAZAKH TOURISM:
- We have all the necessary infrastructure to conduct various events in areas like economy, politics and sports. There are huge platforms that can be used to attract money to the country.
More than 14 domestic tour companies and 50 large Russian agencies met in the B2B format. The neighbors were invited to the international ethno festival. The festival will be held in the end of June as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Astana. The events will attract tourists, said journalist Oleg Zlobin. Being impressed by a trip to Kazakhstan, he created a series of photo reports. The magazine titled "Vacation in Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States" published the articles about cities and Kazakhstan’s unusual places for the second consecutive issue.
OLEG ZLOBIN, DIRECTOR, ‘TOURISM WORKSHOP’ MEDIA CENTER:
- The most important thing is that I managed to visit holy places of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is valuable to every Kazakh and tourist. I completed the journey with photo reports. For the March issue we did a photo report titled ‘20 Wonders of Astana’ on the best architectural monuments of Astana. Of course, it's of interest to tourists.
According to tour operators, the interest in Kazakhstan is growing. For example, last year 30% of Russians visited Kazakhstan.
SVETLANA ANUFRIYENKO, HEAD, TOURISM ASSOCIATION OF RUSSIA’S REGIONS:
- Our countries are so close that sometimes people visit either Russia or Kazakhstan. These are the same people who can visit your country.
