Griculture development: Dairy cluster
Dairy clusters are emerging in Kazakhstan’s regions. As a result, production output is growing, quality of the products is improving and export capacity of the producers is expanding. Kazakh farmers produce 5.5 million tons of dairy products daily. Karaganda is one of the innovative regions where dozens of new dairy products were introduced to the market this year. The regional manufacturers are introducing new technologies and developing their own recipes.
ASSIYA ISKAKOVA, DAIRY COMPANY DIRECTOR:
- Now our consumers want to buy not just a product, they want to buy a result. We export our goods; we work on a prepaid and self-pick-up basis.
Apart from cow’s milk, farmers also produce goat’s. The government support has allowed the farmers in Aktobe to buy special agricultural equipment.
AMANTAI UMBETAI, HEAD, AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE:
- It cost us 12 million tenge, 30 percent of which was subsidized through government support. It helps to develop the business.
Goat’s milk is also used to make cottage cheese. The farmers are planning to soon start making condensed milk and canned meat. For this, they will soon buy new equipment for fodder conservation and refrigerators. These purchases will also be subsidized by the government.
ASSYLKHAN ABTIYEV, DEPUTY HEAD, AKTOBE REGIONAL AGRICULTURAL DEPARTMENT:
- The farmers need to purchase new equipment, new facilities are opening in our region, it all is due to the investment subsidies program.
Last year, Aktobe region received 9.5 billion tenge in agriculture subsidies. Over half of it was allocated for livestock breeding development, one billion and three hundred tenge were given out as loans to farmers. Agrarians produced agricultural goods worth 200 billion tenge. This year, the local government plans to allocate 10 billion tenge for the development of agricultural sector in the region.
