EBRD supported 251 small and medium-sized enterprises in Kazakhstan
International financial organizations support projects of the Kazakh businesswomen. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development issued 23,000 loans and microcredits to women entrepreneurs. In total, the EBRD supported 251 small and medium-sized enterprises in Kazakhstan. These results were announced at the 5th coordination meeting of the EBRD, the Kazakh Ministry of Economy and the Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund. According to the recent data, the number of women entrepreneurs has increased in Kazakhstan. Today, Kazakh women manage 46% of all small and medium-sized enterprises in the country. In total, more than 1 million people are employed in this sector. Many people are interested in the EBRD’s support tools. According to Holger Wiefel, the head of the EBRD's regional programme for Kazakhstan and Mongolia, the organization's activities are not limited to financing.
