Kazakhstan is of great interest for Chinese and Korean investors
Asian investors are interested in Kazakhstan. China and the Republic of Korea pay special attention to industrialization and investment in their diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan. The delegations of Kazakhstan and China met in Beijing to discuss cooperation topics. The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects. China and Kazakhstan are implementing 51 projects worth more than $27 billion, which demonstrates interest in the development of the industrial and investment partnership. Kazakh and Chinese experts also exchanged views on digitalization of the economy and the development of high technologies outlined in the state of the nation address by President Nazarbayev.
HU DUNSHEN, SPOKESPERSON, CHINA DEVELOPMENT BANK:
- We are looking for opportunities to expand the partnership within the development programs of the two countries. In this regard, the Kazakh President’s address can be guidance for us. This opens up new opportunities for cooperation in various fields such as digitalization, industrialization and green technologies.
South Korea is interested in investing in Kazakhstan. Questions of mutually beneficial cooperation have been discussed at the seminar in Seoul ‘Investment Opportunities for Korean Enterprises’. President of South Korea Moon Jae-in is expected to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan as part of bilateral partnership this year. Representatives of Kyrgyz and Ukrainian Embassies have presented their countries investment opportunities to Koreans as well. Korean experts say that the Eurasian initiative proposed by former President Pak Kun Hye, continues working in South Korea. They assign a significant place to the provisions of cooperation with China, Russia, Central Asia and Europe.
YU JANG-HEE, PROFESSOR, EWHA UNIVERSITY:
- Kazakh government is focusing on the development of digitalization of the economy. I think this is one of the promising areas of bilateral cooperation in addition to oil and gas. Production of machinery and household appliances is developed in Korea, but we cannot compete with China in logistics. In the case of cooperation between Korea and Kazakhstan, much can be achieved in these areas.
