Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: Interregional cooperation
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan strengthen trade and economic ties. Kazakhstan’s 16 regions and Uzbekistan’s 14 regional administrations as well as businessmen of the two countries plan to participate in the forum of interregional cooperation. The main topics of the meeting are interaction of border areas, investment opportunities and development of free economic zones of every region. Today there are 206 joint ventures in Uzbekistan with participation of the Kazakh business. The trade turnover between the two countries is estimated at over US$2 billion. The indicator in all areas increased by 30%. In the upcoming years it will double, experts say. The active cooperation in politics, trade, economy and culture between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is an indicator of successful relations in Central Asia. 2018 is declared the year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan, which will demonstrate the fraternal feature of the historical heritage and cultural unity of the two countries.

- Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed contracts worth more than US$1 billion 200 million, following the results of the past forums at the highest level, with participation of the presidents of the two countries. Currently, these contracts are being implemented and further monitoring is underway.
