Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Indonesia amounted to more than US$15 million
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Indonesia amounted to more than US$15 million in the first half of this year, according to Kazakh ambassador to Indonesia Askhat Orazbay. According to the diplomat, one of the initiatives proposed at the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will promote the increase in turnover. It is the so-called Islamic infrastructure integration, which provides unification of all transport corridors of Muslim countries. Today Kazakhstan exports metal, equipment and chemical products to Indonesia. Indonesia, in return, exports food products, vehicles and knitwear to Kazakhstan. In general, the two countries intend to intensify cooperation in all industries, particularly, economy, culture, education and military-technical cooperation as well as tourism.
ASKHAT ORAZBAY, KAZAKH AMBASSADOR TO INDONESIA:
- There are intentions to create joint ventures. Indonesia would like to import wheat and grain from Kazakhstan. Despite high population, grain doesn’t grow in Indonesia because of climatic characteristics. We invite Indonesian banks to establish their representative offices and start operations in the Astana International Financial Center.
