First Kazakhstan-China interregional cooperation forum
The 14th China-ASEAN Expo has begun in Nanning, China. Traditionally, Southeast Asian countries take part in the exhibition.Kazakhstan has become a special member of the current exposition. First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin leads the delegation. He opened a national pavilion of Kazakhstan. As part of the exhibition the first Kazakhstan-China interregional cooperation forum was organized. Askar Mamin and first Vice Premier of State Council of China Zhang Gaoli discussed the prospects of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation between the countries. A number of memorandums were signed in infrastructure, agriculture, transport and trade.The forum of interregional cooperation was initiated by the Heads of State of Kazakhstan and China. The heads of regions, representatives of ministries and national companies of Kazakhstan take part in the forum. Askar Mamin highlighted the timeliness of the forum in the context of the conjugation of the Nurly Zhol program and the One Belt, One Road project.
ASKAR MAMIN, FIRST DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF KAZAKHSTAN:
- All 16 regions of Kazakhstan have business ties and large jointly implemented projects with Chinese provinces. This forum is a unique platform for a bilateral dialogue with a view to conduct further effective consultations on the topical issues of interregional cooperation between our countries and enhancing ties between the regions of Kazakhstan and China.
The Interregional cooperation forum between the two countries is the first large scale event which involves the Chinese province, heads of regions and large enterprises of Kazakhstan. The forum examined investment opportunities of each region. For example, Kostanai produces 25, 000 units of vehicles. Specialists of this industry signed an agreement of cooperation at the forum.
YU YEE, CEO, VEHICLE ASSEMBLY PLANT:
- As part of the agreement, it is planned to increase productivity of the Kostanai Machine Building Plant to 60,000. In addition to the currently produced samples, it is expected to establish a Kazakh brand. Moreover, electric vehicles production will be the primary focus.
In total, the members of the Kazakh-Chinese delegation discussed approximately 10 different projects worth more than US$1 billion. One of the projects is a Chinese noodle manufacturing company, which has no analogues in Kazakhstan. The quality of Kazakh flour is consistent for the pasta production. The enterprise is planned to be built in the next two years.
GULMIRA ISAYEVA, DEPUTY MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE, KAZAKHSTAN:
- The enterprise will be built near Astana. The place is chosen due to the fact that it has a good sales market and infrastructure is developed. In the future, wheat processing enterprises will be built in Kostanai and North Kazakhstan regions. These products will be set for export.
In addition, a joint investment fund will be established within the next three months. It will finance Kazakh enterprises.
MAKSAT KABASHEV, CHAIRMAN, KAZAKH INVEST:
- One of them was the signing agreement between Kazakh Invest and Silver Tiger Partnership on creation of new private equity fund to Kazakhstan, overall committed capital will be around $250 million. Also we have projects like in agriculture, projects in logistics and the machinery.
Nanning is a metropolis with a population of more than 6 million people, with developed infrastructure, production and trade. In Nanning, Kazakh experts advertise domestic products, possibilities of the One Belt, One Road program and the tourist potential of domestic recreation areas.
