Kazakhstan and China are strengthening cooperation in the agrarian industry
Kazakhstan and China are strengthening cooperation in the agrarian industry. The countries have signed seven agreements worth US$160 million. These are the outcomes of the Agrarian Investment Forum held in Astana. More than 100 representatives of business, education and science from both countries took part in the forum. Entrepreneurs signed a contract on the construction of a joint plant for production of pesticides and herbicides near Petropavlovsk. The parties also concluded a memorandum on mutual understanding and implementation of a cooperation zone on the basis of the National Agricultural Research and Education Center.
ASKAR MYRZAKHMETOV, KAZAKH MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE:
- A number of important agreements were signed as part of the Investment Forum. For instance, the Kazakh Food Corporation and China signed to supply 100,000 tons of seed oils and 200,000 tons of wheat. In addition, they signed an agreement between the two ministries to establish an experimental agro park where advanced agrotechnology will be studied.
HAN CHANGFU, CHINESE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE:
- Mr. Vice Premier visited China this March so this is a return visit. My visit is aimed at implementing the agreements between the heads of the two countries, especially as part of cooperation in the One belt, One Road project to promote the Kazakh-Chinese agricultural cooperation.
