MEETING OF BERLIN EURASIAN CLUB
Kazakhstan and Germany are strengthening cooperation. The two countries will work together on 19 investment projects. 5 projects are aimed to establish high-tech industries in the field of renewables. The rest of the projects are targeted to organize industrial activities under the German quality brand, experts said at the 20th meeting of the Berlin Eurasian Club.
In total, Kazakhstan and Germany have signed a package of economic agreements and projects worth US$1 billion. Last year, the volume of mutual trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Germany amounted to 4 billion euros. Currently, this indicator grew by 30% in the past 4 months and amounted to more than one and a half billion euros. According to German officials, Kazakhstan is a key trading partner for Germany in the Central Asian region.
MICHAEL HARMS, MANAGING DIRECTOR, GERMAN COMMITTEE ON EASTERN EUROPEAN ECONOMIC RELATIONS:
- We see a challenge to diversify the economic development in many countries. The more Kazakhstan is industrialized which is currently discussed at the expo, including future energy, energy efficiency, alternative energy, the more we will have a chance for further cooperation. It is very important for Kazakhstan to improve cooperation in the region. If we can reach the entire Central Asian market through Kazakhstan, this would be a very big advantage.
