KAZAKHSTAN AND KUWAIT EXPAND COOPERATION
Kazakhstan and Kuwait intend to increase joint trade turnover and investment potential. Kazakh foreign minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov met with the prime minister of the Western Asian country to discuss prospects of economic relations and modernization of the Islamic financing system.

- Our Kazakh-Kuwaiti relations are now on the rise. The Kuwaiti side has welcomed us and expressed hope that the meeting will give impetus to further advancement in our bilateral relations. Kuwait shows interest in our country and believes that we are one of their main partners in Central Asia. They value Kazakhstan's great political and economic potential. Kuwait highly appreciates Kazakhstan's efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis.
Kuwait supports the Astana Process on the Syrian settlement. This was announced at a meeting with emir Sabahomal-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The sides also discussed the forthcoming Islamic Cooperation Organization summit on science and technology in Astana, as well as the role of Kazakhstan in the Islamic world.

- During the meeting, the Kazakh Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to Kuwait for ratifying the charter on accession to the Islamic Organization for Food Security, and also noted positive changes in other areas. They also spoke about supporting Kazakhstan as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. In 2018-2019, Kuwait will also become a non-permanent member of the Security Council. And the parties agreed to work together in this regard.
