ECB leaves benchmark interest rate unchanged
At the end of the January meeting, the European Central Bank (ECB) has left its benchmark interest rate at a record low of 0.05% per year, according to the bank’s report. The ECB deposit rate was maintained at minus 0.3% per year, the rate on marginal lending was left at around 0.3% per year. The bank's decision is in line with the forecasts of most analysts. There are no reports on expansion of stimulus measures, according to MarketWatch. More than 60% of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg now believe that the ECB will announce additional stimulus later this year.
