Almaty – the homeland of apples

Today in the program:

  • Almaty… Some 70 to 80 years ago, above the modern Abai Avenue there were picturesque wild fruit woods that the academic Vavilov was so fond of. In spring these bright whitish-pink lacework filled the surroundings with miraculous scents. Back then in the fall large fruits of the Almaty Aport apples were floating along the clear main canal and to gather them all you had to do was to set a net to catch them.
