Kyrgyzstan intends to develop a single document regulating the quality control of food products. At present, local producers obey several laws, for example, in veterinary, health care or technical regulation. All products are considered environmentally friendly. However, simple assurance is not enough, according to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan. They suggest introducing quality control at all stages of food production.

 - So that foreign investors could trust quality standards of Kyrgyz products. Therefore, according to this draft law, we must have a unified system, a single normative legal act.

In addition, food safety law is a mandatory requirement of the Eurasian Economic Union. Strict industrial standards and technical regulations are one of the main conditions of joining the union. Their main goal is to maintain high quality products, and subsequently, consumer safety. According to experts, it is equally important to create an infrastructure that would help to effectively implement the Eurasian law.

ZHAKIN AKIMALIEV, DOCTOR OF ECONOMIC SCIENCES:

 - We have only four laboratories that meet international standards, and we need at least twenty of them. We hardly complete the identification of cattle. What about other types of animals? We have six million sheep and goats, half a million horses, pigs and birds. It is necessary to complete the identification in the coming year or two.

According to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, the document will allow tracking down specific manufacturer and the body responsible for the quality of products. The sale of local products on the territory of the EAEU is practically impossible without the observance of the norms. Thus, the adoption of the law will not only increase food safety, but will be an additional incentive for the development of food production in the country.
