The second international military-technical forum ‘Army’ kicked off at the Russian polygon Kubinka. The site with the exhibited latest scientific and technical achievements of the defense sector was attended by delegations from 80 countries. Six Kazakhstani manufacturers also presented their products. The main exhibits of the pavilion - the pride of the defense industry – are the armored vehicles, which were recently deployed by the army. The latest developments of Kazakhstan such as the armored personnel carrier Barys and armored-wheeled vehicles Arlan for the first time were exhibited abroad, and were of interest among a number of Middle Eastern countries. This is not surprising, given their characteristics: Barys and Arlan have a mine protection, high maneuverability and easily withstand fire from heavy machine guns. In addition to high combat performance these vehicles are also competitive in price.

Yerbol SALIMOV, DIRECTOR GENERAL, ‘KAZAKHSTAN PARAMOUNT ENGINEERING’:

Middle Eastern countries are really interested. Also we are planning to enter the CIS markets. It is important to note that our vehicles are quite competitive and in many ways superior to their foreign analogues. In addition to the Middle East, North Africa is interested in these vehicles. Currently this issue is being worked out. We work very closely with Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.

In addition, as part of interplant cooperation, other domestic equipment like the fighting module ‘SARP’ that can be controlled remotely is also installed on these vehicles.

Nuriddin YERGEBEKOV, ENGINEER, KAZAKHSTAN ASELSAN ENGINEERING:

The advantage of the module is that it works at night and in the poor weather conditions. That is, regardless of the weather conditions, a fighter who runs this module can hit a target up to a thousand meters.

Yerasyl BAIZHUMANOV, SALES DIRECTOR, KAZAKHSTAN ASELSAN ENGINEERING:

This module has a thermal imaging camera, an infrared lens that is produced at our factory, which is a nanotechnology feature. At this time, only about 12 countries have such technology.

Talks on the terms of export deliveries of Kazakhstani military equipment will be held during the forum which will last until September 11.
