Unusual sports are gaining increasing popularity in Kazakhstan. For the first time, Kazakhstan championship in underwater fishing was held in Kyzylorda region. The competition was held at the picturesque Lake Kambash. For two days, the athletes were able to explore the bottom of the pond and its inhabitants, showing various techniques of how to catch fish. As a result of the competition in the team standings, underwater fishermen from Aktobe came out victorious. Athletes from Astana and Mangystau region won the second and third place.

Konstantin MILYAEV, VICE PRESIDENT, KAZAKHSTAN’S SPEARFISHING FEDERATION:

Competitions are traditionally held for about 10 years. The geography is fairly broad. After this championship, almost certainly, we will hold the country’s cup for underwater hunters, or it will be one of the regional championships, which will be carried out here.
