Kazakhstan is sending its national boxing team to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Ten athletes that won Olympic slots are now training in Ak-Bulak. The last training session will be held in Astana and on the 28th of July Kazakh boxers will depart to Rio de Janeiro to undergo the final stage of preparation for the Olympic Games.

 

Myrzagali AITZHANOV, HEAD COACH, KAZAKHSTAN’S NATIONAL BOXING TEAM:

The team is expected to bring at least 4-5 medals, including two gold ones.  

 

The national team consists of the Olympic silver medalist Adilbek Niyazymbetov, heavyweight Ivan Dychko, who is now undergoing trainings with Klitschko in Austria, and of course Vassiliy Levit. He is the first boxer who will represent Kazakhstan in the category up to 90 kilograms.

 

Vasiliy LEVIT, CHAMPION OF ASIA:

Each soldier wants to become a general and I think that everyone wants to win. We are striving to show the highest results.

 

Birzhan ZHAKYPOV, CHAMPION OF ASIA:

We have been preparing for four years. Everyone wants to get the Olympic medals, and I also have such dreams.

 

Kazakhstan’s team is also represented by Olzhas Sattibayev, Kairat Yeraliyev, Berik Abdrakhmanov, Abylaikhan Zhussupov and Zhanibek Alimkhanuly.
