Eurasian Literature Forum themed ‘The Energy of Word in the Modern World’

More than 300 experts from various countries gathered in Astana for the Eurasian Literature Forum themed ‘the Energy of Word in the Modern World’. The forum participants from all over the continent discussed international cooperation, the modern development of the Kazakh literature, new trends and genres, as well as the translation aspects. The main attention was paid to the development of the modern world literature. The meeting was held as part of the Modernization of Kazakhstan’s Identity program.

SAULE DOSZHAN, WRITER, HONORED ARTS WORKER OF KAZAKHSTAN:

 - The society develops when people are not afraid to go beyond borders. It changes people’s consciousness. Sometimes, we need to write about mystical things. Time is running fast and novels are becoming shorter. We need to fit everything we want to write into one book.

The main purpose of the forum is to promote literary fiction of the Eurasian countries. The forum covered a wide range of topics as part of the conferences, meetings with readers, book presentations, master classes and literary events of famous writers and literary scholars. Moreover, a contest of literary works in nominations such as prose, poetry, articles as well as children and youth literature was also held as part of the event.

NIZOM KOSIM, CHAIRMAN, TAJIKISTAN UNION OF WRITERS:

 - There are many translated Kazakh works in Tajikistan. There are works by Zhambyl, Abai, Gabiden Mustafin, Seifullin, Mukhtar Auezov and other modern writers. Translated and published works by Olzhas Suleimenov and Mukhtar Shakhanov are also popular in our country. A collection of poems by Ulykbek Yesdaulet is about to be published.

The similar forum was held in 1973 in Almaty. This event initiated cooperation between the Asian publicists. A number of memorandums were signed at the forum in Astana, including a memorandum between Kazakhstan’s Writers’ Union and Iran’s Writers’ Association.
