Green energy development - Kazakh TV

The Kazakh Government plans to increase the share of green energy in Kazakhstan’s total energy balance to 30 per cent by 2030. 106 facilities of renewable energy sources will be launched by 2020. Two wind and solar generators have been installed in Kyzylorda region and another one operates in Western Kazakhstan. The regional officials in the southern Zhambyl region plan to expand the area of the solar power plant that generates up to 100 megawatt of energy per year. It is the highest amount in Kazakhstan and it provides the region with the clean energy.

- Our country is huge. We have the opportunity to develop all types of alternative power sources in the Dzungarian Gate, Southern Kazakhstan and Aktau. It provides us with the opportunity of focusing our efforts on these developments.

Another large-scale project in the field of green energy will be launched in Kazakhstan based on the document signed with French and Chinese companies. The agreement was reached in Beijing during the meeting of the Kazakhstan-China Business Council. The tripartite agreement involves not only joint manufacturing of solar cells but also the construction of ready-to-operate power plants.

FU HONGWEI, PRESIDENT, CEEC – NWPC INTERNATIONAL, CHINA:

- The general allocation for construction of solar power plants in Kazakhstan totals US$300 million. It will involve French technologies and Chinese investments.

Kazakhstan is ready to export its clean electricity. Companies in neighboring Russia have expressed interest to purchase up to 300 megawatt of energy. Central Asian companies are also ready to import Kazakhstan’s renewable energy.
