The share of tourism in Kazakhstan’ economy can reach 8% of the GDP by 2025, the President of Kazakhstan said in his interview to "Khabar" agency. According to Nursultan Nazarbayev, the exhibition EXPO 2017 in Astana is already making a significant contribution to the development of this sphere.

NURSULTAN NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT, OF KAZAKHSTAN:

So many tourists have come. All the hotels are packed, businesses are prospering. Hotels and entertainment facilities are filled with people. Revenues in the city budget grew due to the huge inflow of tourists who are amazed by Astana, Kazakhstan and our people’s hospitality.

Development of domestic tourism is very important. It will take 10 to 20 years to make Kazakhstan attractive for foreign visitors, famous traveller Sapar Iskakov says. Kazakhstan has great potential in this regard. There are picturesque lakes, historical places, ski resorts and the sea.

SAPAR ISKAKOV, TRAVELLER:

 - Our President has set a task to develop tourism because tourism is one of the sectors of the economy. EXPO 2017 has given a great impetus to tourism development in Kazakhstan. Foreign expo visitors also go to Burabai, Turkestan, Almaty and learn more about Kazakhstan. However, there is still a lot to do in this sphere.

Experts believe that Kazakhstan should attract foreign investors experienced in tourism sphere. It requires the introduction of concessional lending. The flow of tourists to Kazakhstan also depends on the work of travel agencies.

GULBARSHA MOLDAKHMETOVA, HEAD OF TRAVEL AGENCY:

 - We need to demonstrate our country, our culture and hospitality. We can share the last piece of bread with our guests. Not every nation has such characteristics. We should show the tourists what we are proud of.

Experts say that Kazakhstan’s image and revenue depends on the quality of service, roads, and infrastructure. Tourism will prosper if these spheres improve.
