Establishment of FAO office in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is gaining a strategic importance. FAO is the specialized entity of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. The staff at the international organization’s office in New York supports the decision to establish a partnership and liaison office in Kazakhstan. According to the members of the organization, the cooperation between the organization and Kazakhstan will focus on food security and organic food production, animal health and the phytosanitary monitoring as well as information technologies for the agricultural statistics, and related data collection and analysis. Moreover, the Food and Agriculture Organization representatives held a number of talks and consultations with the Kazakh officials since 2014. FAO ensures food security and guarantees access of population to the high quality food. Today, the organization has about 200 member states and is present in over 130 countries.
