Kazakhstan: Connecting Europe and Asia
Kazakhstan plays a major role in the development of the Central Asian region. In an exclusive interview to Kazakh TV, Research Director at the Institute of International Relations of Panteion University, Constantinos Filis opined that
Kazakhstan has a great potential and can provide relevant conditions for the development of its transit and logistic capacity.
Analysts praised the Kazakh government’s measures aimed at opening new ports, logistic terminals, highways and railroads. Moreover, Kazakhstan’s participation in the One Belt, One Road initiative and large regional associations such as the Eurasian Economic Union, will allow the country to become a large transit and logistics hub, said Filis.
KONSTADINOS FILIS, PROFESSOR OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, PANTEION UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS:
- Kazakhstan, underlining its intercontinental character, seems to be willing to build bridges between Europe and Asia, but this is definitely a challenging and long term task. Kazakhstan is an important country for Central Asia and aspires to play a greater role in regional politics.
