Kazakhstan and France intend to strengthen strategic partnership. The parties spoke about this at the joint political consultations in Paris. Head of Continental Europe of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Florence Mangin highlighted Kazakhstan’s significant contribution to international efforts to strengthen regional and global security. The sides discussed further development of the Eurasian Economic Union, the new EU Strategy for Central Asia, assistance to Afghanistan, regional cooperation and implementation of the One Belt, One Road initiative. During the talks, the French side highlighted that President Emmanuel Macron kindly accepted President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s recent invitation to visit Kazakhstan.

ROMAN VASSILENKO, FOREIGN VICE MINISTER OF KAZAKHSTAN:

- Both sides will work to determine the timing of this visit. This will give a great impetus to the areas of our relations. They cover areas such as uranium and space industry, railway transport, concrete production, production of Danon yogurts and etc. France invested US$13 billion in Kazakhstan over the past years. We believe that this is not the limit, and the French colleagues are very enthusiastic about the prospects of expanding this cooperation.

PASCAL LOROTPRESIDENT, INSTITUT CHOISEUL:

- France and Kazakhstan are strategic partners. Today, France ranks fifth in the list of Kazakhstan’s economic partners. I think that our relations have great potential for development in the future.
