Kazakh-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission meeting

The governments of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will cooperate on the Aral Sea restoration works. The first deputy prime ministers of the two countries have agreed on the joint project. A joint working group made up of specialists from the two states will be created for that purpose. The experts will study new water saving methods and effective use of water. It was one of the topics discussed at the 17th session of the joint inter-governmental commission on the bilateral cooperation in Astana today. Representatives of the two states also discussed trade and economic cooperation. Trade turnover between the two countries grew 30 percent and made up $2 billion in 2017. The officials of the two countries plan to increase trade to $3 billion this year.

The household appliances manufacturing enterprise has been opened in the south of Kazakhstan. In addition, there are small success stories in agriculture, light industry and textile cluster. There are great opportunities. During the visit of the President, agreements were signed and today they are being implemented.
