New tourist routes will be launched along the Great Silk Road
New tourist routes will be launched along the Great Silk Road. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have launched a joint project to develop tourism. The agreement was signed by the parties last month. Tourists will get acquainted with ancient historical sites located on the territory of the two states. Today, the tourist agencies and tour operators of both republics have begun to develop a list of common cross-border routes. The organizers promise that a plan of brand new tours designed for travelers will be approved and this will open the tourist potential and increase the tourist flow throughout the region.
RASHID KUZEMBAYEV, CHAIRMAN, KAZAKH TOURISM COMPANY:
- The bus route between Shymkent and Tashkent will be launched soon. Once a week, five buses from Uzbekistan arrive in Khorgos. A lot of work is going on in Khorgos and new facilities are opening for tourists. If we double these routes, this will be a great achievement for us.
A number of bilateral meetings on this topic will take place in order to discuss the promotion of tourism in detail and to make countries attractive for foreign tourists. As part of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan the project is being implemented.
