Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: Simplified customs regime

Movement has been significantly simplified at the Kazakh-Uzbek border. Innovations were developed as part of the roadmap on Modernization of Border Crossing Points. This has helped to increase the flow tourists and transit. Time spent on border control has been shortened. In addition, Uzbekistan canceled the mandatory completion of the border declaration for goods worth more than US $2000.  Regular bus service has been renewed between the cities of the to neighboring countries.

SAIDAZYM MURADOV, CHIEF INSPECTOR, CUSTOMS CONTROL INSPECTION OF UZBEKISTAN:

- Currently, the Zhibek zholy checkpoint has created all conditions for the rapid permit of passengers, buses and cars. The procedure for issuing documents is prompt. In order to prevent traffic jams, a special X-ray scanner has been installed to check the buses and cars.

ELZARA MALIKOVA, UZBEK CITIZEN:

- There were no difficulties at the border post. Everything went very quickly. We used to stand in the queue for hours. Today we crossed the border in 5 minutes.

In addition, starting from January 1, 2018, at all international airports of Uzbekistan, a system of double - "green" and "red" - corridors at border crossings started working. The measures taken should significantly improve the logistics of the passenger flow. Experts have already assessed innovations and believe that decisions to simplify the permit of customs procedures will be of great importance for expanding the country's foreign trade and attracting foreign investment in the economy from the neighboring countries.
