Cooperation between Central Asian countries
At the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies, the Order "El Yurt Khurmaty" was named an honorable and significant award, which was awarded to President Nursultan Nazarbayev. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev presented the order to Nursultan Nazarbayev in Tashkent. He noted that Kazakhstan has always pursued a peaceful policy and supported neighboring countries.
SANAT KUSHKUMBAYEV, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, KAZAKHSTAN INSTITUTE FOR STRATEGIC STUDIES:
- It should be noted that the consistent, predictable and most importantly stable policy of Kazakhstan in Central Asia was highly appreciated by the heads of state and government and by neighboring nations. The fact is that at the dawn of independence President Nazarbayev has chosen the strategy of unification of different countries. After a quarter of a century, this policy bears fruit.
Public figures positively assessed the outcomes of Nursultan Nazarbayev's visits to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. According to Kamal Burkhanov, in recent years, the country has intensified its contacts.
KAMAL BURKHANOV, DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE OF POLITICAL, SOCIAL AND HISTORICAL STUDIES:
- Central Asia has always been one of the main directions of Kazakhstan's foreign policy. We are very closely connected, we live on the same land and we drink water from the same rivers. We have sister spirits. 1.5 million Kazakhs live in Uzbekistan while 400, 000 Uzbeks live in Kazakhstan. Therefore, Central Asia is one of the most priority areas.
