Transition to the Latin alphabet is a historical need for Kazakhstan. It is the integration with global scientific and technological processes to foster the progress. This is the opinion of Azerbaijani scientists who participated in the process of transition of their native language to the Latin alphabet. The transition to a new script started in 1991 in Azerbaijan by the decision of the republic's parliament.

NIZAMI JAFAROV, MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, TURKOLOGIST:

 - Indeed, at first it was decided to move quickly to the Latin alphabet. But then, considering the conditions of that time, the process slowed down and went on gradually. Society was also prepared. The transition to the Latin alphabet in Azerbaijan was completed in 2001. After completion, there was only one problem related to the publication of artistic, scientific literature, works of classics in Latin. The publication of works by classics, encyclopedias and necessary literature in Latin script was started in 2004 by order of the head of state.

The scientist says that Kazakhstan’s transition to a new alphabet was discussed with representatives of the intelligentsia and found support.

NIZAMI JAFAROV, MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, TURKOLOGIST:

 - In fact, this issue found its solution in Kazakhstan. It is necessary to take into account the phonetic peculiarities of Turkic languages and try to correctly convert them into Latin graphics. For example, "Ш" sound is transliterated as the combination of "SH" in Latin. It is better, of course, to use simple signs. Kazakhstan is a country with a very strong intellectual potential.

The Kazakh diaspora in France supports the transition to the Latin alphabet. According to them, it opens up unlimited possibilities in studying and preserving their culture.

MUSTAFA USLUZHAN, CITIZEN OF FRANCE, HEAD OF ASSOCIATION OF KAZAKHS AND TURKISH PEOPLE IN FRANCE:

 - At present, we cannot read books brought from Kazakhstan because they are written in Cyrillic. It will be much faster and easier after transition to the Latin alphabet. In addition, the letters of the Latin alphabet are similar to the letters of the French and Turkish alphabets. In addition, we will be closer to the Turkic world.
