In an exclusive interview to the Khabar Agency, head of state Nursultan Nazarbayev answered еру questions of current interest related to the progress of the Modernization of Public Consciousness program.

"We strive to be among the world’s most developed countries. However, besides a few modern western textbooks translated into Russian, there are no contemporary textbooks that have been translated into the Kazakh language. We are going to address this. There are some excellent books in philosophy, history, culture and other areas. They have not yet been translated into Kazakh. If we adapt them for our universities, our students will know the western culture, history, and lifestyle. A special bureau has been created to translate such textbooks. As far as I know, we are currently preparing to publish 17 textbooks. If we want to be among the world’s thirty developed nations, we should start by educating ourselves," Nazarbayev said.
