Tourism industry is actively developing in Kazakhstan. Tourism is one of the prioritized sectors of the economy along with fuel and energy, agriculture, manufacturing, trade and logistics. Kazakhstan has recently adopted its 2023 Tourism Development Strategy.

ARYSTANBEK MUKHAMEDIULY, KAZAKH MINISTER OF CULTURE AND SPORTS:

 - Tourism development policy focuses on the creation of six regional cultural and tourist clusters with the necessary infrastructure across Kazakhstan. These are Astana, a geopolitical center of cultures; Almaty, the cradle of civilization, the East Kazakhstan region with Altai, West Kazakhstan region, the Caspian gate, South Kazakhstan region and revival of the Great Silk Road, and North Kazakhstan region, the unity of nature and nomadic culture.

More and more travelers are drawn by historical tours, museum excursions, natural resorts and preserves, like Korgalzhyn, a sanctuary of pink flamingos. The latter attract the major number of tourists in Kazakhstan. A new national company, Kazakhtourism is set to develop domestic tourism and introduce foreigners to the beauty of Kazakhstan.

ARYSTANBEK MUKHAMEDIULY, KAZAKH MINISTER OF CULTURE AND SPORTS:

We created a national company named Kazakhtourism. Firstly, the company is aimed at promotion of Kazakhstan’s tourism potential abroad and secondly attraction of investments. Many foreign investors are interested in financing Kazakhstan’s tourism sphere because Kazakhstan has a unique nature.

The Caspian Gate cluster is being developed in Mangystau region. 12 various projects are being implemented in the region, including yacht tours, diving, ethnic village, sea tours and children's camp. A new hotel is being constructed on the seashore of the Caspian Sea. The region is building new infrastructure, creating new jobs and improving service sector as part of ‘100 concrete steps’ program. All this will increase the number of tourists. Experts believe that by 2023 Mangystau will become the Caspian Riviera.

GULMIRA SUYEUOVA, STAFF, TOURISM DEPARTMENT OF MANGYSTAU REGION:

 - The Caspian Gate tourism cluster is being developed in various spheres. These are projects related to sea tourism, development of tourist routes, historical routes on the territory of Mangystau region and the Caspian Sea, projects related to access to information technologies such as websites and mobile applications. Businessmen engaged in development of tourism projects are supported as well.

National parks will become more comfortable for tourists. There will be new bike lanes in the parks, and special routes combining the most picturesque places. All 12 national parks will be modernized. Funding will be allocated for the construction of infrastructure after assessing their profitability. The project will be financed by the state and by investors. First of all, this is done for the development of Kazakhstan’s domestic tourism. This approach is already bearing fruit: 200,000 people visited the Ile-Alatau Park last year. Foreign guests are also interested in developing ecotourism in Kazakhstan.
