One of the unique natural parks of Kazakhstan ‘Kolsai kolderi’ entered the list of the EXPO 2017 tourist routes. It marks its tenth anniversary this year. It attracts tourists from around the globe. 20,000 tourists visited the turquoise lakes located just 90 kilometers away from Almaty last year.

NADEZHDA VASILYEVA, TOUR GUIDE:

 - People visit these places because they want to see primeval nature, enjoy the beauty of the green fir-trees and the lakes that play with different shades of turquoise and emerald blue. People absorb the energy of the sun and the nature here.

Tourists come from overseas to see the rare beauty of the local nature. They are amazed by the local picturesque places.

SAMANTHA VAN WINGERDEN, TOURIST, NETHERLANDS:

 - I learnt about Kazakhstan because travellers have been here and they showed me pictures and said all the people are so nice, the country is beautiful, so I came here and it is amazing so I’m really happy to be here.

STANISLAV MATSIAS, TOURIST, POLAND:

 - The atmosphere and Kazakh people are welcoming. The mountains and the snow on the top are fascinating. We are flying back in two weeks. I think it’s too little time to enjoy everything here.

The purest mountain air, perfectly clear water, full of trout, birds’ singing and soothing silence awaken inspiration, tourists say. A large network of hotels and accommodation is appearing in the region. They are built exclusively from natural, eco-friendly materials that do not harm the environment.

AMIRZHAN MALYBEKOV, DIRECTOR, ‘KOLSAI KOLDERI’ STATE NATIONAL NATURAL PARK:

 - The highway construction was launched as part of Nurly Zhol program last year. At present, 50% of works are completed. We are planning to commission it next year.

Wellness resorts are bringing good profit as well. Visitors can stop by any house and try mare’s milk or fermented mare’s milk (kumys). Foreign visitors like Kazakh cuisine and national sports. Expo visitors will be able to see the variety of the region’s flora and fauna. They will also be offered to travel along five newly developed tourist routes, which are Tamgaly reservation, Altyn Yemel, Charyn, and The Dzungarian Alatau.
