Kazakhstan and Latvia are marking 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations
Kazakhstan and Latvia are marking the quarter century anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. Politicians and public figures of both countries were awarded for their contribution to strengthening cooperation. At the solemn ceremony, Latvian parliamentary group member Andrey Klementiev received the first 25th anniversary medal established by the President of Kazakhstan for his contribution to Kazakh-Latvian cooperation.
ANDREY KLEMENTIEV, MEMBER OF LATVIAN PARLIAMENT:
- I am proud to say that I have been working with Kazakhstan for 20 years. The Kazakh President has appreciated my contribution to relations between Latvia and Kazakhstan. Indeed, we have come a very long way over these years. Despite the fact that we are far geographically, we are allied and our good relations are reflected in many inter-state treaties.
Latvian Transport Minister, Uldis Reimanis, has also received the high state award of Kazakhstan. He administers Kazakh-Latvian transport-transit projects.
ULDIS REIMANIS, DEPUTY STATE SECRETARY, LATVIAN TRANSPORT MINISTRY:
- First of all, I would like to express gratitude to your President. Kazakh colleagues I’ve been closely working with are like friends for me. I think it is obvious that Latvia will participate in Expo in Astana. Our transit corridors are being developed now.
