Kashagan has exported the second million tons of oil. This was reported by the director of production operations Arjan van Dijk. Oil production at Kashagan was resumed last autumn. The target of one million tons of oil was reached on January 8. The upward trend in oil production in Kashagan started after reaching the level of 180,000 barrels per day. The exported oil is shipped via three routes - along the CPC system to Novorossiysk port, the Atyrau-Samara and Atyrau-Alashankou pipelines. According to the consortium specialists, they are planning to develop the offshore fields Kalamkas-Sea and Khazar, located in the immediate vicinity to Kashagan field. The recoverable reserves of these deposits total about 67 million tons of oil and 9 billion cubic meters of gas.

ARJAN VAN DIJK, DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION OPERATIONS AT KASHAGAN FIELD

- We have started successfully and safely our facilities. 00:00:08:05. /// 00:00:10:21. We have nearly produced 2 million tons of crude oil. We have done it safely. And we would like to congratulate all the people of Kazakhstan with this success and all the people in Atyrau with this success.

The share of Kazakhstan’s oil is growing in the world market, also due to transportation of Kashagan oil through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Last year, over 800,000 tons of crude oil was exported from the Kazakhstani field. This year, over 1 million tons were shipped to foreign markets through the pipeline. Hydrocarbons from the Northern Caspian fields are transported through the same route. To date, the CPC pumps two-thirds of the total export volume of Kazakhstan’s oil.

NIKOLAY GORBAN, DIRECTOR GENERAL, CASPIAN PIPELINE CONSORTIUM

- Caspian Pipeline Consortium set an absolute record in the pipeline system Tengiz – Novorossiysk in 2016. 44, 317, 580 tons of hydrocarbons have been received. This was the record high volume pumped via the CPC.
