Kazakhstan will increase oil production this year. According to the Kazakh energy Minister, it will reach 81 million tons of oil. According to Kanat Bozumbayev, last year Kazakhstan exceeded the plan by producing 78 million tons of oil. The Minister also said that the modernization of three oil refineries in Atyrau, Shymkent and Pavlodar would be completed soon. The first production at the Atyrau oil refinery is planned for September. According to the authorities, the volume of oil refining increases annually. This year the enterprises intend to produce 3 million tons of gasoline.

KANAT BOZUMBAYEV, KAZAKH ENERGY MINISTER:

In his address, the head of state emphasized the need to expand oil refining. After modernization of three local oil refineries, the volume of oil refining is expected to grow up to 17.5 million tons by 2019. The production of light oil products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel will grow as well.

According to the Minister, after reaching the designed capacity of the upgraded refinery, in 2018, Kazakhstan will be able to export AI-92, produce of Euro-4 and Euro-5 gasoline.

KANAT BOZUMBAYEV, KAZAKH ENERGY MINISTER:

We expect that by the middle of 2018 Kazakhstan will produce all the necessary petroleum products

At the meeting, the Minister also noted the record levels of gas production. Last year it reached 46.4 billion cubic meters, exceeding the planned volume, mainly due to the deposits in Western Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions.
