Foreign experts forecast a significant economic growth in Kazakhstan. For instance, the International Monetary Fund will revise the growth forecast for the country’s economy to a positive side, according to the IMF mission chief in Kazakhstan, Mark Horton.

MARK HORTON, CHIEF, IMF DIVISION IN KAZAKHSTAN:

We’ve seen some signs of growth 26 sectors like agriculture, construction, transportation and a number of sectors linked to public administration. Again some of these reflects the government’s stream initiatives.

In general, the IMF stresses that Kazakhstan is experiencing growth dynamic, and next year the growth will reach 1.5%-2%. Mark Horton stressed that the launch of Kashagan field will have a significant impact on the economy.

MARK HORTON, CHIEF, IMF DIVISION IN KAZAKHSTAN:

Significant effect on Kazakhstan’s economy over the medium term. It is been a long time coming, Kashagan has been under development for about 20 years. It is a big, complicated project with a number of participants and it has taken a long time to develop it. It is technically difficult oil field to develop. It is also technically difficult to manage a consortium.

According to the expert, state measures to support the economy were effective. Due to Nurly Zhol program and 100 concrete steps, a number of new industries have been successfully launched. Another factor may serve a reason to support the stated forecasts of economic growth. The next year, the Asian Development Bank will present a new strategy of partnership with Kazakhstan for the next 5 years. Director of Kazakhstan’s division at ADB Giovanni Capannelle told that the bank’s management intends to invest $3 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy.

GIOVANNI CAPANNELLI, ADB COUNTRY DIRECTOR FOR KAZAKHSTAN:

During the current country partnership strategy, ADB has been focusing in two sectors. First is transport. And we’ve building infrastructure to enhance connectivity of Kazakhstan as a country that connects China with Europe.

The ADB is also going to participate in the Expo 2017 in Astana, to develop alternative energy sources in the country and build an electric cars manufacturing plant.
