The UN supports the idea of Nursultan Nazarbayev on creating an international hub for promotion of green technologies at the site of the world’s fair. This was said by the representative of United Nations Environment Programme in Europe, Jan Dusik during the meeting with the chief of Astana EXPO 2017, Akhmetzhan Yessimov.

 

According to Jan Dusik, the theme of the exhibition is relevant. It coincides with the issues the United Nations wants to address, such as protection of the environment, environmental issues and the fight against climate change.

 

Experts believe that in Astana they will be able to find solutions and develop ideas that will have an extensive impact on the global status quo. As it was during the exhibition in Milan, where the world day of environmental protection was marked and a competition among "green" pavilions was held.

 

105 countries and 17 international organizations will participate in the EXPO 2017 in Astana. The Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is expressing interest in the upcoming large-scale event.

 

The President of the administrative region, Debora Serracchiani expressed their willingness to participate in the expo during a meeting with the chief of Astana EXPO 2017 Akhmetzhan Yessimov.

 

According to her, there are a lot of higher educational institutions, research centers in their region who can offer great insight to use of alternative energy.
