We started this work in 2014. We have conducted work in 11 Bronze Age fortresses. In addition, we have worked with two Iron Age monuments

During excavations, archaeologists found 140 asyks, the astragalus of the ankle of a sheep or goat, in men’s graves. Scientists believe that things had different functions in those days. For the ancient people, they were not just a toy for a child but also a talisman. The fact that asyks have been buried with the dead has a particular importance.

We think that in ancient times mourners used to cover the dead with asyks instead of the soil during the burial. It means that asyk is the symbol of courage. Some people used to wear them as a mascot and throw into the grave of a loved one later. Asyks have been found in many burials.
